Position Overview
The primary responsibility of the Senior Accountant is to safeguard company assets through proper controls, reporting, and practices. This position directs the accounting and control functions and reports as well as assists in preparation of the month. This position reports directly to the site Financial Controller.
Job Tasks
- Assists in preparation of all APS financial reports within the appropriate time frame established by management. Reports to include all internal and external financial summaries, including weekly/monthly reports to Corporate and coordination of APS’s part of the annual consolidated audited statements.
- Responsible for the efficient and effective day-to-day leadership and management of the accounting function to ensure compliance with our internal controls and policies.
- Assist in preparation of periodic forecasts and annual budgets. Prepare/update forecast/budget documents as appropriate.
- Assist in preparation of tax filings (federal, state, local property, sales tax, 401(k), Welfare plan) as required by law.
- Coordinate and manage special projects as may be assigned.
- Responsible for the Accounts Receivable process from beginning to end.
- Process Invoices to customers.
- Administer Cash Receipts.
- Administer Credit and Collections.
- Initiate and coordinate customer invoicing complaints
- Perform assigned month end activities including reconcile A/R detail with G/L to ensure account is in balance, ‘transfer off’ balances (from A/R detail) that properly belong in other general ledger accounts, and identify uncollectable balances to be written off (i.e. charged to Bad Debts)
Education/Experience
- Minimum of five years’ experience managing accounting functions with a successful manufacturing company.
- Must have an understanding of cost manufacturing systems.
- Exceptional computer skills utilizing MS Office products.
- Proven management and leadership experience.
- The requirement for superior communication and interpersonal skills and impeccable personal integrity is absolute.
Education/Training
- B.S. degree in finance or accounting required; MBA degree, or CPA a plus.
